Staff wellbeing

We believe that staff wellbeing is essential to a thriving, high-performing school community and the extensive work we have done to support staff wellbeing is frequently recognised, both internally by colleagues and externally by partners and visitors, as a genuine strength of the College. We are committed to creating a supportive, respectful, and positive working environment where all staff feel valued, listened to, and empowered to maintain a healthy work–life balance.

Our approach to wellbeing is proactive and holistic. We don’t just respond to challenges, we work to prevent them. This includes manageable workloads, protected time for planning and professional development, and a culture that prioritises collaboration over competition. We regularly review policies and practices to ensure they support staff wellbeing in meaningful and sustainable ways.

We offer a range of wellbeing initiatives, including access to mental health support, staff social events, and wellbeing-focused INSET sessions. Staff have access to confidential counselling services, flexible working arrangements where possible, and a leadership team that is approachable and responsive to individual needs.

What sets us apart is our belief that wellbeing is everyone’s responsibility. We actively involve staff in shaping our wellbeing strategy through surveys, working groups, and open dialogue. We celebrate achievements, encourage peer support, and foster a culture of kindness and mutual respect.

We know that when staff feel well, supported, and motivated, everyone benefits - especially our students. That’s why we place staff wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
